Halloween Popcorn Balls made with small candy corn and seasonal sprinkles are a wonderful treat for Halloween!
INGREDIENTS
– 12 cups popped popcorn about ½ cup unpopped kernel– 1 cup granulated sugar– ½ cup light corn syrup– ¼ cup butter 4 tablespoons / ½ stick– ½ teaspoon salt– 1 teaspoon vanilla– ½ teaspoon baking soda– 1 cup mini candy corn divided use– 2 tablespoons Halloween sprinkles optional
INSTRUCTIONS
Cover a big baking or roasting pan with food spray that doesn't stick. You can either add popcorn or use an air popper to pop popcorn right in the pan.
Step 1
Put sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt in a 2-quart pot. Bring to a boil while stirring all the time over medium-low heat.
Step 2
When it comes to a boil, keep cooking and stirring for two more minutes. The mixture will foam up.
Step 3
Take it off the heat and slowly stir in the baking soda and vanilla. Add sugar to popcorn and mix it around to cover it well.
Step 4
Let it cool down a bit, and then add half of the candy corn. If you want to use sprinkles, put them in a small bowl.
Step 5
After the mixture cools, spray your hands with nonstick spray. Make 3-inch popcorn balls quickly and add candy corn to the outside.
Step 6
Sprinkle and push balls to stick. Let the popcorn balls cool on a foil-lined baking sheet. Individually bag them in plastic.
