Chocolate-covered marshmallows are a simple and delightful treat for any occasion! Sprinkle seasonal sprinkles, spread colourful candy melts or make marshmallow pops.
INGREDIENTS
– 1-2 10-ounce bags semi-sweet chocolate chips see note– 1-2 tablespoons coconut oil or shortening see note– 1 12-ounce bag standard-size or jumbo marshmallows OR 1 batch homemade marshmallowOptional decorations:– Sprinkle– Contrasting chocolate almond bark, or candy melt– Lollipop or cake-pop stick
INSTRUCTIONS
Put the chocolate chips and coconut oil or butter in a bowl that can go in the microwave. Heat for one minute.
Step 1
Mix well. Stir the chocolate every 15 seconds while you keep heating it in the microwave until it melts and is shiny.
Step 2
To dip each marshmallow in the chocolate, use a toothpick to pick it up and dip it in. You can dip them all the way through or just half way.
Step 3
Make-your-own marshmallows are lighter and fluffier than store-bought marshmallows, so you might need to use a fork to help lift them out of the chocolate.
Step 4
To get rid of the extra chocolate on the bottom of the marshmallows, use a fork or the bowl's edge.
Step 5
Dip marshmallows and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkles should be added immediately while the chocolate is moist.
Step 6
For decorating, drizzle dipped marshmallows with contrasting melted chocolate, almond bark, or candy melts.
Step 7
Dipped marshmallows should lay on parchment in a cool area until chocolate sets. Airtight container storage.
