Orange Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Soft, gooey Orange Cinnamon Rolls beat the can! Warm orange rolls with puffy yeasted dough, cinnamon sugar filling, and sweet orange glaze are the perfect holiday starter!

INGREDIENT

For the dough: – ¾ cup warm milk, between 105 and 115 degree – 1 package (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast – Zest of 1 orange – ½ cup fresh squeezed orange juice, at room temperature – ¼ cup (4 Tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted – 2 eggs, at room temperature – 1 teaspoon salt – ⅓ cup granulated sugar – 4 ½ cups all purpose flour, plus more for rolling For the filling: – ½ cup (8 Tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted – ½ cup brown sugar – ¼ cup granulated sugar – 1 Tablespoon cinnamon For the glaze: – 2 cups powdered sugar – 3-4 Tablespoons orange juice – Zest of 1 orange – 2 Tablespoons butter, melted – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Pinch salt

INSTRUCTION

Add yeast to warm milk in electric mixer bowl for dough. A few minutes, stir yeast. Lite edge foam. Mix orange zest, juice, butter, eggs, salt, and sugar.

Step 1

Gently stir each cup of flour with a wooden spoon or spatula. Check dough stickiness at 4 cups. Sticky dough shouldn't stick fingers. Add flour to make dough barely sticky and bouncy.

Step 2

Mixer bowl dough hook. Mix bowl corners for 6-7 minutes at medium speed. Cover dough loosely with greased plastic wrap in a greased basin. Let heat for 1–1.5 hours to double.

Step 3

Meanwhile, prepare the filling and glaze:  Filling: Mix melted butter, sugars, cinnamon, and cardamom in another bowl. Set aside. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, orange juice, zest, butter, vanilla, and salt in a medium basin. Mix with orange juice. We like thick, pourable.

Step 4

To assemble: Spritz 9x13 pan with neutral. Place rising dough on floured surface. Sprinkle flour on dough. Carefully shape dough into an 18-by-11-inch rectangle.

Step 5

Sprinkle rectangle with cinnamon sugar evenly. Roll the dough tightly over the filling from the long end. Thin ends need dough trimming. knife-cut dough into 12 equal pieces.

Step 6

 Slide unflavored dental floss under the roll along each score mark and draw the ends together to cut the dough. Place cinnamon-swirled rolls in pan.

Step 7

Allow the pan to puff for 30–45 minutes under a tea towel. Preheat oven to 375. Unwrap the tea towel and foil the pan.

Step 8

 After 25 minutes, remove rolls from foil and bake for 5-8 more minutes until rims are golden brown and interior is fluffy. Hot-roll glaze. Glaze if desired. Bread or fruit dips only.
