How to Get Rid of a Double Chin

Extra weight between the chin and neck is called a double chin. Having a larger neck can make you look older. Many people have chin and neck weight. This weight might alter your jawline and face. Weight can even induce jawline loss.

What Is a Double Chin?

Double chins have simple causes. Most double chins are caused by obesity. The cause of two chins can be unhealthy. Death, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and more can result from obesity, the main cause of a double chin.

Double Chin Causes

Being self-conscious about your double chin and trying to change it is fine. Fortunately, there are several strategies to lessen or eradicate double chins. For overweight persons, losing weight through diet and exercise is an obvious double chin treatment. If you're struggling to lose weight or are thin but predisposed to fat and want to lose your double chin quickly, there are various treatment options.

Double Chin Treatment

Natural double chin therapy involves losing it without surgery. Diet, exercise, jaw exercises, and yoga can help. Natural therapies take time. They also need maintenance, such as losing weight and keeping it off.

Many people get liposuction to remove fat under the skin. A surgeon inserts a tiny tube into a small incision. When performing neck surgery, your surgeon will sculpt and contour your chin and neck to reshape your jawline. Simple liposuction requires only local anaesthetic to numb the region.

General anaesthesia is needed for face-lifts. Sometimes they can be done under local anaesthesia. Your doctor will remove fat and sagging skin around your chin and neck during a face-lift.

Several neck-lift treatments are available. Cervicoplasty removes skin from the neck and chin. Platysmaplasty tightens neck muscles. Both surgeries shape your neck and chin.

Chin-to-ceiling exercises should be done 10–20 times a day to engage neck and jaw muscles. Standing or sitting with your spine straight, lean your head backward and look up at the ceiling. Move your lower jaw forward towards the ceiling gently. Maintain this position for 10 seconds.

You unconsciously swipe your cheeks when brushing your teeth or washing your mouth. You can do this exercise with water or air. Simply vigorously swirl your cheeks for 5–10 minutes. This exercise should be done 10–20 times a day, like the others.
