These are not your traditional breadcrumbs. This Panko Bread Crumbs recipe makes those light, crunchy bread crumbs you see in delicious recipes like chicken katsu or crispy shrimp.
Ingredient
– 4 slices of white wheat bread– 1/4 teaspoon salt– 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper– 1/4 teaspoon
Introduction
Warm the oven up to 300°F. Put cardboard around two sheet trays and set them aside.
Step 1
Take off the crusts from each piece of bread. Split the bread in half and cut each half into two very small pieces. This will make bigger pieces.
Step 2
Place them in a large bowl. Mix in half of the herbs, pepper, and salt. Put the rest of the slices in a food processor and cut them up into smaller pieces.
Step 3
Put the lid on and grind the bread at a medium speed for 5 to 10 seconds at a time. The crumbs will be ready in 40 to 50 seconds.
Step 4
Add the rest of the spices to taste. Put the smaller crumbs on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Put them in the oven and toast them for four to five minutes,
Step 5
until they are just beginning to turn golden brown. The bigger pieces should take the same amount of time to toast.
Step 6
Watch out for it! When it's done, mix the smaller and larger pieces together and let them cool all the way down.
Step 7
Put the panko in a container that has a lid, such as a bottle or jar, and store it in a dry location.
