Holiday season favourites are these mixed nuts with a delicious spice blend! They also make great last-minute holiday gifts! My family and neighbours get excited when I make these. Egg white coating keeps spices on nuts.
Ingredient
– ½ cup sugar– 1½ teaspoons salt– 1½ teaspoons chili powder– ½ teaspoon cinnamon– Pinch cayenne or to taste– 1 large egg white– 2 cups nuts such as almonds
Direction
1
Set the oven temperature to 300 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a baking mat made of silicone.
2
Put the sugar and spices in a small bowl and mix them together.
3
The egg white should be lightly beaten with a fork in a large bowl setting.
4
Add the nuts to the egg white and stir to coat them. Then add the sugar and spice mix and keep stirring until the nuts are evenly covered.
5
Before putting the nuts on the baking sheet, let the extra liquid drip off.
6
Put them in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the nuts are browned and the coating is hard. Every 10 minutes while they're baking, stir them.
7
Let the nuts cool for five minutes, then move them to a cutting board, break them up, and let them cool all the way down. As they cool, the nuts get crisp.
