Low in calories while high in flavour, these healthy mashed potatoes. They are an indispensable healthy potato side dish that uses low-fat sour cream.

They have only 150 calories per potato/serving and are low in fat and high in potassium. These calories are also not worthless.

I prefer to start with potatoes that have been chopped into 2-inch slices. In contrast to boiling them whole, the potatoes cook faster and more evenly this manner.

They can be mashed with a fork or masher. My electric mixer is quick and hands-free, which is why I prefer using it.

The end result is wholesome mashed potatoes that are substantially lighter than conventional mashed potatoes but yet taste great! Thanksgiving's staple side dish, potatoes, need not be high in calories.

The traditional mashed potatoes now have fewer calories and fat thanks to some healthy substitutions.
