Chocolate Caramel Cake Recipe

This chocolate caramel cake has homemade, chocolatey layers and salted caramel's buttery goodness. Does chocolate cake with salted caramel frosting get any better?


For the chocolate cake: – 2 cups all-purpose flour – ¾ cup cocoa powder – 1 & ½ teaspoons baking powder – 1 & ½ teaspoons baking soda – ½ teaspoon salt – 2 cups granulated sugar – 1 cup whole milk – ½ cup vegetable/canola oil – 2 large eggs – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 cup boiling water For the caramel buttercream frosting: – 1 & ½ cups unsalted butter softened – 8 cups powdered sugar – ¾ cup caramel sauce – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – ½ teaspoon salt or adjust to taste For the chocolate ganache: – ¾ cup dark chocolate chips – ¾ cup heavy cream To decorate (optional): – Extra caramel sauce – Flaky sea salt
