Best Chocolate Mousse Recipe

This classic chocolate mousse recipe combines the best dark chocolate to make a treat fit for any occasion.  

INGREDIENTS

-1 cup heavy cream, cold -1 teaspoon vanilla extract -2 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided -5 ounces dark chocolate -3 tablespoons salted butter -¼ teaspoon cinnamon -3 eggs, separated Optional Ingredients -Whipped cream -Grated Chocolate -Flaky Sea Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Whip heavy cream, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon powdered sugar in a large bowl for 2-3 minutes until soft peaks form. Save for now.  

Step 1

Mix chocolate, butter, and cinnamon in a heavy-bottomed skillet over low heat. Butter and chocolate melt when heated.  

Step 2

Keep heating and stirring for 2-3 minutes until smooth. Stop cooking. Mix egg yolks into the chocolate after it cools to just warm.  

Step 3

Beat egg whites with 1 tablespoon powdered sugar in another large dish for 4-5 minutes until stiff peaks form.  

Step 4

Fold melted chocolate into whipped cream. Carefully whisk beaten egg whites into chocolate and whipped cream. Mix and uniformize the mousse.  

Step 5

Fill serving dishes with mousse, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours. If preferred, add whipped cream, grated chocolate, and flaky sea salt.
