Easy bacon-Cheddar drop biscuits. This recipe tastes best with cheddar, but you can use any cheese.
– 4 slices bacon, or more to taste– 2 cups all-purpose flour– 1 tablespoon baking powder– 1 teaspoon baking soda– ½ teaspoon salt– 5 tablespoons shortening– 1 cup buttermilk– 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius).

Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 10 minutes, stirring regularly. Remove bacon slices to paper towels. After cooling, crumble.

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a basin to make coarse crumbs. Stir buttermilk into a ball. Bacon and cheddar crumble.

Place heaping tablespoonfuls of the mixture on a baking sheet that has not been greased (this is the recommended method).

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown, in a preheated oven. Serve right away.
