Almond Crusted French Toast with Whipped Ricotta and Honey Recipe



– For the filling: – 3/4 cup ricotta cheese – 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened – Zest of 1 orange For the syrup: – 3/4 cup honey – Juice of 1/2 an orange – 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon For the french toast: – 1/2 cup sliced almond – 3 egg – 3/4 cup milk – Splash vanilla – Pinch salt – 8 thick slices challah or brioche bread – 3 Tablespoons butter



Preheat oven to 350. Whip ricotta and cream cheese in an electric mixer with the whisk attachment until smooth. Add orange zest.


Step 1

Mix honey, orange, and cinnamon in another small bowl. Mix three tablespoons of that mixture with ricotta. Save the rest for topping.


Step 2

In a small bowl, mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt. Spread almonds on a plate. Heat a skillet medium. Heat half the butter in the skillet. Soak half the bread slices in the egg mixture for five seconds each side. 


Step 3

 Apply almonds to both sides of bread. Cook bread in melted butter for 2-3 minutes per side. Place baked bread on ungreased sheet. Remelt remaining butter in skillet and add bread slices.


Step 4

Finish baking the grilled bread in 8-10 minutes. Heat honey mixture in microwave or stove. French toast with honey and ricotta.
